Industry Minister Ed Husic breaks down the European Union deal to govern how artificial intelligence is used and how it could impact Australian regulations.

The deal between EU nations is the largest of its kind and could provide a blueprint for the way other nations look to regulate the industry.

Mr Husic represented Australia at the UK AI Safety Summit last month where he said other countries pushed for regulations.

“What you are seeing with the EU you are going to see happen in a lot of other countries and they are going to engage a lot more in this,” he told Sky news Australia.

Mr Husic revealed that in the coming weeks, the government will release its interim response to what they have seen in the industry so far.

“We are targeting high-risk areas, we do want to ensure the public can have the confidence the technology is working in the right way,” he added.
